Nigeria’s Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Mr Peter Obi has been called upon to return to his former political party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Peter Obi left the PDP for the Labour Party (LP) after failing to clinch the party nomination for the 2023 presidential elections.

The call was made the Anambra State Chapter of the PDP, Obi’s home state. In the communique, signed by the PDP Chairman in Anambra, Chidi Chidebe, said alliances with ideologically incompatible political formations, in the guise of coalitions, would likely not yield the desired success.

“The committee extends an open invitation to all aggrieved and former members of the PDP in Anambra, particularly our revered former governor, Mr Peter Obi, to return home and reunite with the now rejuvenated and restructured PDP.

“We will gladly welcome our brothers and sisters back to join us in the collective quest for a better Nigeria,” he said.

Peter Obi is currently linked to the new opposition coalition group that are planning to unseat the current President, Bola Tinubu in the next election. Speculations have it that Peter Obi may likely agreed to be a running mate to Nigeria’s firmer Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
